Hi Guys! LukeCrazyKid here! My name is Lucas, but I go by Luke too. When I was several years younger, my two cousins were visiting, and we were playing with a large appliance box. That was the day that my nickname, LukeCrazyKid, came to be.
For the most part, I'm your average, run of the mill, eight-year-old kid, with a massive colony of ants in my pants. I love to be happy, nice, respectful, loving, helpful, and always ready for dessert! I love my family and the best cat-friend a kid could ever have, my cat Stripes. I, sort of, have what they call “The Gift of Gab!”, because I really love to talk, and that is probably why I’ve never met a stranger!
I absolutely love video games and YouTube! Some of my other favorite hobbies, besides video games and YouTube, include anything STEM related, reading, drawing, building with LEGOs, riding my bike, my scooter and my hoverboard, and playing with my friends.
My parents think that I must be part fish, because I love to swim and I love visiting the beach and the aquarium. Not to mention, my love for my own fish tank in my bedroom!
Some of my other likes and interests include math and science, cooking and creating recipes, weekend campfires and smores, creating my own board games, fishing with my mom and dad, playing flag-football, and training Gracie Jiu Jitsu!
I do not like litterbugs, bullies, “no electronics days”, clothes shopping, mustard or ketchup, bee stings, epic crashes on my scooter, COVID restrictions, chores, mosquitos, shots, sitting still, being quiet, and my nieces constant requests, to Alexa, to hear songs from the FROZEN soundtracks.
I always try my best at being an overall good guy!
To sum it all up in just a few words…I love living, learning and having fun!
Join in and watch my cool, fun and sometimes silly adventures!
Until then, “LukeCrazyKid… is OUT!”
We adopted Stripes last year. He is the coolest, most laid-back, furry friend in the whole wide world. I love cats! All cats! But, there is no cat in this world that I love more than my hide and seek playing buddy, Stripes!!!
The LukeCrazyKid/OML Kid's Breakfast Challenge and how it came to be:
Quite simply, a kid and his love for cats, food and giving.
_________
Lucas is a LOVER of cats. He loves and consistently demonstrates caring compassion towards all animals, but at his core, he has shown and made obvious to be a true “cat” person, if ever there was one. Lucas has his own feline furever friend, Stripes, that he is always happy to introduce to anyone Lucas video calls with, and everyone who visits our home.
We adopted Stripes last year through Purrfect Hearts Cat Rescue, in Wilson, that is lovingly run by Mrs. Alice and a small group of caring volunteers and fosters. The rescue is a nonprofit and depends entirely on community sponsorship and donations.
We met Mrs. Alice a few years back, after finding a distressed kitten, all alone, about to enter a storm drain. Not yet ready to adopt a new member into our household, Luke's mom found out about Purrfect Hearts and contacted Mrs. Alice, a day after finding the kitten that Lucas “named” Love Cat. Mrs. Alice met with Teresa and myself, while Lucas was in school, and we told her how upset we were sure that he was going to be, when he came home and realized that Love Cat was gone. After hearing this, Mrs. Alice invited us to bring Lucas over to see Love Cat, and all of the other rescues, and to learn a little about how a rescue works to find each of the cats and kittens, a loving, furever home. We took Mrs. Alice up on her offer, and Lucas was excited to see Love Cat, and all of the other cats and kittens that were there that day. He was happy to see that Love Cat was in good
hands, and he was also happy to know that Mrs. Alice would work hard to find Love Cat a good, furever home.
Last year, our family decided that we were finally ready for our own furry family member. We let Luke decide whether we should consider a dog or a cat, and, when asked, his decision took only a matter of moments. He quickly proclaimed that he wanted a cat and wanted to adopt a rescue, specifically from Mrs. Alice at Purrfect Hearts Cat Rescue.
Immediately after adoption, the bond between Lucas and Stripes was evident. Stripes lays with Lucas, while he reads. Together, they play with all of Stripes' toys. They play with Luke's toys. They even play hide and seek together, and Stripes will play as long as Lucas does! They are the best of friends!
Lucas also has a fondness for good food, and a friend of ours, Mrs. Sherry, is the owner/operator of Oh My Lard (OML, for short) in Elm City. We eat there on occasion, because the service is great and the food is outstanding! Lucas likes to go there, because he likes visiting with Mrs. Sherry and the OML crew, and he loves her pancakes and hot dogs equally, as well.
On one of the walls at OML, there is a corkboard that displays the “Wall of Fame/Shame”, of what is known as the Anthony/OML Challenge. For the Anthony/OML Challenge, if a challenger eats the two-pound cheeseburger with ALL the fixings, and a pound of fries, in twenty minutes or less, their meal is free. Lucas loves a challenge, but he realistically understands that this challenge is much more than any kid could possibly handle.
A while back, on a lunchtime visit to OML, Lucas mentioned to Mrs. Sherry, that she should consider some type of kid challenge. She said that she would consider it and then the conversation changed. On our next visit to OML, a couple of weeks ago, Lucas presented Mrs. Sherry with a mockup of what he was calling the “Kid’s Breakfast Challenge” menu. To our surprise, not only was Mrs. Sherry serious when she said that she would consider Lucas’s suggestion, but within a few minutes of discussion, what has now become the LucasCrazyKid/OML Kid’s Breakfast Challenge, had begun to take shape.
Just a day later, Lucas and myself spoke to Mrs. Alice, after running into her, during a quick stop at Food Lion. She asked about how Stripes was doing and with a grin from ear to ear, Lucas was ever so happy to see and speak to her.
Directly following our short discussion with Mrs. Alice, on the ride home, Lucas was oddly quiet for a minute or two. Then he asked me if I thought that Mrs. Sherry would be okay with us asking for donations, to help Mrs. Alice and Purrfect Hearts Cat Rescue, during the Kid’s Breakfast Challenge. When we asked Mrs. Sherry, she thought that was a wonderful idea, so we started working on a plan to try and make it all happen.
Collectively, while taking into consideration that the main focus of this challenge was, and should remain, to be FUN for kids, we drafted, and eventually finalized, the menu and the rules of the 1st Annual LucasCrazyKid/OML Kid’s Breakfast Challenge to benefit Purrfect Hearts Cat Rescue.
As you can see from the flyer, that I have included as an attachment, we are asking for parents of children who are interested in participating, to contact myself or to drop by OML to pre-register. After registering, each kid/family will be given a challenger packet. Challengers will ask friends or family members to sponsor them for the challenge, and to make a small donation in their honor.
As this story tells it, this was really all of Lucas’s doing. Out of pure happenstance, all of this has come together, full circle. Lucas has a heart for cats. He has a heart for food. He has a heart for challenges. He has a heart for giving. Now, all of this will culminate in his first fundraiser event, to take place at 9:00am, Saturday, June 5th, 2021 at Oh My Lard in Elm City.
After the event, it will be nice for Lucas to visit OML and see photos of ALL the kids on their own 1st Annual Wall of FAME!
Make sure to go to LukeCrazyKid.com to find out how Lucas’s nickname, LukeCrazyKid, came to be.
First and foremost, this Kid’s Breakfast Challenge is for FUN and to raise money for a great cause! Each child will be asked to raise money through sponsor donations, prior to the event. No amount is too small! Every little bit counts! With this in mind, although there will be one “winner” in each CATegory, everyone attending will enjoy some excellent food & FUN!
If the kid(s) cannot finish their meal, their adult team member can help. The team that finishes ALL of their food first, wins!
Each team will have 2-4 members. Must have a kid on each team.
Teams will compete against like teams.
1 kid 1 adult
2 kids 1 adult
And so forth.
A little bit of Halloween and a whole lot of GOOFY!!!
The Purrfect friendship!!!
Like I said, I just like to live and learn, and you might as well have some fun along the way! -LukeCrazyKid is OUT!
